How would you describe the quality and effectiveness of your organization’s orientation? You have only one opportunity to make a first impression, what impression does your organization make on a new employee? If you want to make a good impression, orientation needs to be a planned welcome that reaffirms your hiring decision. Improving your orientation can reduce turnover among new employees.
Many organizations have an orientation day. Typically, the new employee fills out a batch of forms, is overwhelmed with lots of information, maybe takes a tour of the facility, and reports to his or her work area. The most common complaints heard about new-employee orientations are that they are “boring and overwhelming” – or just the opposite: Nothing happens and the new employee is left alone to “sink or swim”.
THE SUCCESSFUL ORIENTATION
Successful new-employee orientation is an enthusiastic welcome, full of variety and timely information. Orientation needs to be a process…not just a one-day event. This workshop is intended to help you develop a new-employee orientation from that one-day event into a process that makes a positive first impression.
You Will Learn To:
- Properly assess your current orientation program
- Select the type of orientation that is right for your company
- Design the most effective program from an orientation designer you can use again and again
- Familiarize yourself with support forms for your program
- Use this training to revise your existing orientation or to develop an orientation from the beginning.
Participants will receive a series of checklists that will help them select those program component parts that fit their company and its unique culture and needs. Participants will actually design their own orientation during the workshop.
CANCELLATION & NO-SHOW POLICY – Registrants who do not cancel with 48 hours notice and who do not attend are liable for the entire fee. Substitutions may be made at any time.
