An applicant walks into your office for an interview with her dog. A third shift employee has trouble staying awake and says he has narcolepsy. A remote/telework employee is called back to work in the office but says she has anxiety and fear about catching COVID-19. What do you do? How do you handle these situations. Your FIRST response and reaction can cost you and your company a lot of money in lawyer fees and even fines from the EEOC.
The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) is complicated…but it can be understood. It can be “demystified”!
This class will be a practical, engaging, and enlightening opportunity to raise your ADA knowledge, understand your obligations, reduce risk, and increase legal compliance. It will, explain the basics, and give attendees everything they need to know…but have been afraid to ask!
Our agenda will include:
  • The history of the ADA
  • How the ADAAA changed employers focus and approach to the ADA
  • The Interactive Process – a step-by-step primer
  • Reasonable accommodations and essential functions
  • Understand when stress and anxiety are covered under the ADA
  • What an Employer Must Show to Establish Undue Hardship
  • Using job descriptions as your most valuable tool
  • Real case scenarios where employers went wrong by reassigning essential functions
